At the close of trading on Thursday (December 4), online robusta coffee futures for the March 2026 contract on the London exchange rose slightly to USD 4,232 per tonne, up 0.47% (+USD 20) from the previous session. Other futures also recorded mild gains, while the January 2026 contract continued to fall 0.30% (-USD 13) to USD 4,302 per tonne.
In Vietnam, robusta prices in the Central Highlands on the morning of December 5 rose slightly by 200 - 500 VND/kg, reaching 103,300 - 104,100 VND/kg.
Converted to Vietnamese đồng, the March 2026 robusta contract increased to 111,600 VND/kg, based on the current exchange rate of 1 USD = 26,372 VND. With the current average domestic price at 104,000 VND/kg, Vietnamese robusta remains 7,600 VND/kg lower than the March 2026 futures price on the London exchange - equivalent to a discount of around USD 288 per tonne.
Certified coffee inventories on the ICE exchange continued their steep decline, pressured by the United States’ new import tariffs on Brazilian coffee. ICE-monitored arabica inventories fell to a 1.75-year low at 398,645 bags as of November 20. Robusta inventories also slid to their lowest level in 11.25 months, down to 4,056 lots on Thursday.
Market sentiment remains fragile and highly sensitive. Robusta futures for the March 2026 contract on the London exchange are expected to remain stable or edge slightly higher within the USD 4,230 - 4,270 per tonne range during the December 5 session, barring new developments regarding exports and supply conditions.
